2 women formally charged in Medicaid fraud case

The owner of a Hinds County mental health provider and a social worker who worked for the company have been formally charged in a Medicaid fraud case.

Attorney General Jim Hood says 63-year-old Shirley Daniels, of Jackson, and 47-year-old Angelia Haydel, of Madison, each was arraigned Friday on five counts of Medicaid fraud and one count of conspiracy.

Daniels is owner of Change Your World Mental Health in Jackson. Haydel is a licensed clinical social worker.

Haydel is accused of conspiring with Daniels to submit claims to the state Medicaid program for services that Haydel did not provide.

If convicted, each face up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines for the conspiracy count and five years in prison and $50,000 in fines for each Medicaid fraud count.
